The ES8100V has all the features of the ES-410V except it records and plays back in the Hi8 format for stunning image quality. In addition to recording over 400 lines of horizontal resolution, the ES8100V is equipped with 22x optical zoom lens (500x digital zoom) digital effects and digital faders, preset titler function and extraordinary long recording time of up to 14 hours, when used with the optional BP-945 battery packs.

Image Stabilizer: Equipped with a high quality image stabilization system, the ES8100V instantly corrects camera shake, giving you smooth, stable pictures. It enables you to record shake-free images, even on long telephoto shots without a tripod. (Step-up feature from the ES55)
Built-in Video Light: With the ES8100V, fading light doesn't mean an end to the day's recording. Thanks to the built-in video light, you'll get clear, colorful images even in complete darkness! And since it is connected you don't have worry about losing it.
FlexiZone AF/AE: Because your subjects will often be off center and you will encounter less than ideal shooting conditions, Canon developed the exclusive FlexiZone AF/AE. Simply use the FlexiZone controller to align the "FlexiZone" in the viewfinder with your subject. You'll achieve perfect focus and exposure anywhere within the frame.
Point-and-Shoot Simplicity: When that great video opportunity arises, you may not have time to deal with focus, exposure and white balance. Fortunately, the ES8100V can take care of all these details for you. Simply turn the camcorder on and you're ready to record.

Programmed Auto-Exposure: The ES8100V's Auto mode is ideal for everyday recording, plus there are four special exposure programs for diverse shooting conditions (Sports, Spotlight, Portrait, Sand & Snow).
Digital Effects: Give variety and impact to your recordings by adding Art, Sepia, Neg/Positive, 16:9, Mirror and Mosaic effects at the touch of a button.
Digital Fader: There are 6 easy to use faders that can be added while recording. At the touch of a button, choose from White, Horizontal Wipe, Mosaic, Art, Zoom, or B/W faders.
Preset Titler Function: Effortlessly select one of the 5 preset titles such as "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to match the occasion. Alternatively, enter an original title of your own. You can also choose from among 7 colors to have your title appear colored.
Long Time Recording: The ES8100V can record up to 14 hours continuously when using two optional BP-945 Battery Packs attached to the optional CH-910 Dual Battery Charger/Holder.
