High Quality Video and Audio:

680,000 pixel CCD combines with the DV format to deliver video with over 500 lines of horizontal resolution and breathtaking colors
Equiped with a 10x optical zoom and an incredible 250x digital zoom (finger pressure zoom with numeric zoom ratio readout in viewfinder/monitor) that uses spline interpolation technology to smooth out image contours and minimize jagged edges. You can also zoom in (up to 25x) during playback to enlarge any part of an image.
Advanced electronic picture stabilizer recognizes your unique camera-shake characteristics and can differentiate between shake and intentional pans and tilts to provide smooth and stable pictures.
Automatic and manual control of focus, exposure, white balance and iris
Two PCM digital stereo modes: 16-bit mode produces CD quality on one set of stereo tracks, while the 12-bit mode creates two sets of stereo tracks, allowing audio dubbing or narration on the second track.

High Performance:

The camcorder offers over 20 digital effects and transitions to give your videos a polished and professional look. Effects include Classic Film, Strobe, Slow Shutter, Black and White and Cinema (16:9). You can even apply some of the effects during playback mode. Transitions include White fader, Black and White fader, Slide Wipe, Scroll Wide, Random, Mosaic Fader, Door Wipe, Corner Wipe, Window Wipe and Dissolve.
Snapshot function records a photo-like still image onto video complete with a camera shutter sound effect. Snapshot modes include Full, Frame, Pin-up, White Border, Motor Drive, 4-frame and 9-frame Multi-Picture.
IEEE1394 DV (i.LINK) input/output terminal is provided for fast, lossless digital transfer of video and audio to a DV-equipped computer or to another DV unit. There is also a PC connection and supplied serial cable for downloading captured still images to a PC (via RS-232 port)
Built-in Auto Light turns on or off automatically as required, so you can concentrate on your shots instead of the lighting. This functions according to brightness conditions. The main benefit is improved picture quality in facial color when shooting in low light levels.
High resolution 3.5-inch color LCD monitor (112,000 pixels) can be rotated up to 270 degrees, so you can tilt it down for high-angle overhead shooting in crowds, tilt up for low-angle shots, or point it forward for self-portraits. Also offers a color viewfinder as well (Step-up features from the GR-DVL505).
Offers DualCam (video and still camera) capability with built-in 2MB memory for storing digital still pictures separate from the tape. A digital still picture output is provided, and both the serial cable and software for Windows is supplied to allow easy downloading of still pictures to your computer.
You can record for 1-1/4 hours using the supplied BN-V408 lithium-ion battery. Optional 2.5 and 4.5 hour lithium-ion batteries are also available.
Random Assemble (RA) editing lets you select up to 8 scenes at a time and rearrange them in any order onto a new tape by just by marking the beginning and end of each scenes
