DMR-E20 a Next-Generation Video
Recorder can record on both DVD-RAM discs and DVD-R discs. Capable of high-speed
data transmission and high-speed random access, this recorder offers countless recording
and playback possibilities. Along with easy operation and the storage convenience of
discs, DVD-RAM boasts PC compatibility for expanded playback versatility.
Time Slip Playback
- This feature lets you view a program that
you're currently recording from any point that's already been recorded, while continuing
to record the live program in progress.
Simultaneous Recording and Playback
- Because data transfer is at a super-fast
rate of 22.16Mbps, simultaneous recording and playback are possible with the DMR-E20. So,
you can record a live TV program while watching any other program that's been previously
recorded on the same disc!
Video Recording to DVD-R Discs
- The DMR-E20 DVD Video Recorder can also
record onto DVD-R discs, so you can enjoy playback of these recordings on most
conventional DVD players.
Direct Navigator
- This feature makes it easy to find a desired
program on a heavily used disc. A list of recording dates, times, channels and
(user-entered) titles are shown on screen. When you move the cursor to any particular
recording, the segment is played in the background, so playback can begin immediately upon
selection. Program deletion, protection, and title input are also easy to perform. Up to
99 programs can be handled at once.
Playlist Function
- The Playlist function lets the user perform
simple non-linear video editingsuch as rearranging the order of scenes, skipping
over unwanted scenes, or copying selectionsand create custom playlists of favorite
scenes on a disc.
Rapid Random Access
- DVD-RAM discs let you jump directly to any
spot on a disc and begin playback or recording right away. Even if there is no sequential
area of empty space available, the DMR-E20 DVD Video Recorder can record data on the
available space throughout the rest of the disc. There's no more wasted time finding a
place to start recording, or the problem of accidentally recording over desired material.
Incredible Storage Capacity
- Using the DMR-E20, you can record up to 12
hours of video on our new, 2-sided, 9.4GB DVD-RAM discs. These discs can be played back on
a DVD-RAM compatible DVD playersuch as Panasonic's DVD-RP91 or DVD-H2000or on
a PC or laptop computer equipped with DVD-RAM playback capability. Users can also edit
their videos on a multi-media computer with video editing/production software.
Space-Saving Storage
- A DVD-RAM disc takes up only about a third
of the space of a VHS cassette, so your disc collection won't cramp your style. The ideal
media for long-term storage of your valuable video images, DVD-RAM preserves quality over
time, and also permits overwriting as desired.
Easy Video Editing
- Instead of just shooting videos, now you can
edit them too. Random access makes it easy to perform simple non-linear editing using just
a single DVD Video Recorder, with no need for additional editing equipment.
DVD-RAM Compatibility with PC
Applications
- The DVD-RAM disc format is supported by
major hardware and media manufacturers, and is thus hailed as the new "bridge
format" for compatibility with audio/video and personal computing applications. You
can take your DVD-RAM disc out of its protective cartridge, and play it back on a PC
equipped with a 4.7GB/9.4GB DVD-RAM drive or DVD-ROM drive that's compatible with
4.7GB/9.4 GB DVD-RAM. With the proper software, you can also use your PC to edit your
DVD-RAM recordings. or you can backup your computer data, as well. Thanks to DVD-RAM, you
can record, store, and play back secure data in more ways than ever before.
Advanced MPEG2 Encoding Using
Hybrid VBR Technology
- In DMR-E20 is combined two encoding
technologies, Real time VBR (Variable Bit Rate) and Visibility Modulation Technology, to
provide MPEG2 recording with superb picture quality. This combination helps assure
incredible picture quality for your preferred DVD-RAM recording mode.
Selectable Recording Modes
- You can set the DMR-E20 to a variety of
recording modes, each depending on average bit rate. EP mode yields the most recording
time, LP & SP mode provide less recording time with higher quality recording, and XP
mode gives you the highest quality recording. There's also the FR (Flexible Recording)
mode that lets you record with the best picture quality possible for the recording time
and remaining space on the disc.
Improved Video Quality in
Analog-to-Digital Transfer
- Input TBC, 3D Y/C separation circuitry, and
3D digital noise reduction are particularly effective when recording from analog video
sources such as conventional VHS or S-VHS VCRs. (Input TBC is a built-in time base
corrector that delivers highly stable, natural images. The 3D Y/C Separation Circuitry
minimizes the dot crawl and color smearing caused by interference between the video
signal's Y and C color subcomponents. And, 3D Digital Noise Reduction effectively removes
noise components from the signal during playback.)
