Broadway by Data Translation makes adding video to your
presentations and web pages a snap! Designed specifically for the business professional,
you do not need prior experience with digital video to install or use this all-in-one
video capture, editing, and compression package.
Broadway seamlessly supplies MPEG-1 digitized video and
audio to any presentation, animation, graphics, or multimedia authoring package. No
additional boards, playback cards, monitors, or sound cards are required beyond those
standard in your multimedia PC. Multimedia has never been this easy--or affordable.
Video Capture
Broadway captures full-color, full-motion video from an
S-Video or composite video source at 30 frames per second (fps), and synchronizes the
audio digitized by your computer's sound card with the captured video. Video is digitized
in real time and stored on your hard drive in an editable .AVI format. This allows you to
digitize full-motion video without dropping frames and without introducing undesirable
artifacts.
You can also view your video source in real time on your
computer's monitor before you capture to determine exactly which video to digitize.
Video Editing
You can edit (cut, paste, save selection, replace audio,
and so on) in near real time with Broadway because the product uses hardware to accelerate
the video editing.
Broadway allows you to combine several video clips in one
sequence and include simple transitions. And because Broadway is Video for Windows
standards-compliant, more complex video editing and sophisticated transitions can be
accomplished in your favorite video editing package like MediaStudio Pro or Premiere.
Compression
Broadway fully compresses the edited video clips into
MPEG-1 standard format, including I, P, and B frames, at about three times real time
(three minutes for a one minute clip). To achieve this type of performance in the past,
users have had to go to expensive service bureaus or pay more than $20,000 for high-end
packages because MPEG-1 compression is very compute-intensive. Until recently, the only
other inexpensive alternative, software compression, performed this task at thirty to
sixty times real time (sixty minutes for a one-minute clip)!
Broadway can also compress existing uncompressed .AVI files
from any video source. You don't have to capture a video clip with Broadway in order to
compress it.
Use with Your Existing Software
You can easily insert Broadway-compressed video into files
and presentations created with PowerPoint, Freelance, Persuasion, Harvard Graphics,
Compel, Action!, or Director. This lets you take advantage of Broadway's high quality
full-motion video capture and MPEG-1 compression capabilities within your favorite
multimedia application environment.
Dynamic Web Pages, Presentations, and More
Broadway can improve the quality and effectiveness of all
your multimedia projects including your home page on the web, electronic presentations,
computer-based training, interactive kiosks, and electronic publications.
When your Broadway-enhanced presentation is complete, you
can deliver it using a number of formats: over your network, on CD-ROM, or on your own PC.
And you can quickly distribute it to your sales force, for example, over your LAN, WAN, or
on CD-ROM.
Easy to Install
Broadway installation couldn't be simpler, and takes only
minutes. Just plug the Broadway MPEG board into an available PCI slot, install the
Plug-and-Play driver and application software, and you're done! There are no confusing
extra steps, like configuring system IRQs or connecting feature cables.
Connecting your VCR or camcorder is easy, too. Audio
connections plug into your system's sound card using a standard cable supplied with
Broadway. The video source (S-Video or composite) connects directly to the Broadway MPEG
board.
